How we treat

Laser Therapy (or more formally known as Photobiomodulation Therapy) has been used in various clinical settings around the world for over the last forty years.

It helps to speed up tissue repair in the body (including skin, wounds, muscle, tendon, bone and nerves), and can also be used to help to reduce inflammation and reduce pain.

A laser treatment usually takes around 5-15 minutes in length and should be applied at least two times per week for it to be effective.

The mechanism by which laser therapy is effective, is through a protein in mitochondria called, Cytochrome C Oxidase, which helps to increase ATP production and reduce oxidative stress. In simple terms, the laser therapy helps to speed up the energy process within your cells to enable them to work and heal faster.

In 2018, laser therapy was accepted into the guideline for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence for oral mucositis. Which proves that it is effective at helping to reduce inflammation and stimulate healing in cells.

Laser treatment is quick, harmless and non-invasive which means that it can be used as an extremely useful adjunct for, any of the treatments at our clinic.
