How we train

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based martial art, self defence system and combat sport. The focus of the sport revolves around ground fighting and controlling your opponent on the floor. Once an opponent is effectively under control, the desired finishing point of the combat exchange is to place your opponent into some form of submission hold involving either a joint lock or strangle hold.

Originating in Brazil in the 1920s, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was particularly developed and popularised by the Gracie family. With over 3 million people now practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu around the globe, it is now one of the fastest growing sports in the world and additionally it forms an essential component within the sport of mixed martial arts.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an extremely effective form of exercise and fitness, and if taught mindfully, it has been shown to improve other aspects of your health such as balance, coordination, body control, body awareness, self esteem and confidence.

Our classes are small in order to provide you with the supervision and attention to detail that you would get in a one-to-one training environment but at a cost which reflects the group training experience.

Our group classes are spaced throughout the day to help suit your schedule and once you have registered with the clinic, you can book and manage all of your classes online.
