How we treat

The Joanne Elphinston Movement System (or JEMS) is a holistic approach to movement assessment and rehabilitation founded upon the latest research in neuroscience, biomechanics, psychology and movement rehabilitation medicine.

The premise behind JEMS centres around helping people to both restore and enhance the movement of the different parts of their body, and their physical capability. Whether you are injured, or you wish to improve your performance on the field of play, JEMS specialises in helping people to identify the movement inefficiencies that are maintaining their injury or movement performance problem.

The therapeutic process of JEMS focuses upon teaching individual’s the missing movement skills and awareness in which to unlock the inefficient movement responses within their own bodies. Once unlocked, the individuals are able to restore elegant, balanced, efficient, pain free and beautiful movement again.

JEMS is a calm, gentle and intelligent approach to movement rehabilitation and the simple techniques within the system are designed to help facilitate new connections within your brain and body, whilst learning to let go of old habits that may be getting in the way of your recovery. Not only can JEMS help you recover from any of your aches and pains, but it can also equip you with the movement skills in which you are able to confidently forward to new movement challenges into the future.
